The Lynx- Charlotte's new light rail trainNorth Carolina was the #1 State in the US in Inbound Moves at 64%- 36% outbound,

according to United Van Lines 2007 Migration Study released just a few days ago. The biggest loser? Michigan, with almost 68% of all moves moving out of the state. Here is a look at the south, the largest region for inbound migrations- the percentage moving in to the state is:
North Carolina 64%
South Carolina 60.6%
Georgia 54%

Leading the way, with families moving out are the rust belt states of:
Michigan 67.8%
New Jersey 60%
New York 59.5%
Pennsylvania 57%
Ohio 56%

And we know a lot of them are coming to Charlotte. The Charlotte Chamber released a study that showed 80,000 families relocated to Charlotte in 2006. We await the 2007 numbers. The reasons cited? Good paying jobs, the mild climate, and a chance to build a future…

Over the next couple of months I’m going to be dedicating my blog time to specific areas of Charlotte and some specific communities. I’d like to continue building my Top Ten Charlotte New Home Communiy List- there are only 4 now, and also work what makes the different ares of town special, like Southpark, Myers Park, Dilworth, Matthews, Southwest Charlotte. As time permits, I will also be looking at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools as well.

I am the owner and operator of CharlotteCommunitiesOnline.com and was inspired to create this website when I moved my young family of 6 down to Charlotte from the northeast, now over 20 years ago. Charlotte quickly became home to us and I wanted to create a website that would help individuals and families considering a move to Charlotte. I'm also the owner of The McDonald Group at eXp Realty (my day job) and have helped hundreds of folks relocate to Charlotte over the years.
