The BUZZ is Back! Hornets Win in Overtime! #Hornets

October 30th, 2014 Listed Under: Charlotte Sports, Living Here, Things To Do Charlotte

The return of the much loved Hornet’s was a success in every way. A sell out crowd met the team, amidst lots of crazyness. Check out the start of the introductions.

Then they looked perfectly lousy for the next 90 minutes. Down 11 at the half, their offense sputtered on poor shooting, and their defense was defense-less.  It grew worse in the third quarter, where they fell further behind, all the way to 24 points down with about 7 minutes to go in the 3rd.   Game over right?

Wrong.   The team began playing defense, causing turnovers, and went on a quick run to close it to 11 down. Then Marvin Williams showed his value and maturity, and Kemba stepped up. With 15 seconds to go, down 3, Kemba brought the ball up, took his time, and shot  a deep three. A deep three, he shot with 5 seconds and went through at 1.6! Tie game. Quick defense and then it was overtime.

Both teams looked tired, few players wanted to shoot, but finally both sides got it going, and after one last stop, it was tied and the Hornets had the ball again, with about 10 seconds to go. Once again it was Kemba Walker, with his patented cross over and back step for the game-winning 20′ jump shot.

Way to go guys! Thank you Michael Jordan, and the whole organization for putting this team on the floor behind the very able leadership of Coach Clifford.   Here is the ESPN rundown, after a 10 second commercial.

On a personal note I spent the first half in our business club seats, then my Wells Fargo friend and I went to visit friend in a corporate box for the 2nd half.  The hive, including the new floor looks great.

Welcome Back Hornets! @hornets
