Charlotte Tax Rates

Here’s how to figure NC taxes, below are the most current rates.  Some of these rates have changed a bit, but we are all waiting for the Mecklenburg County reassessment due in January 2011. Now done- the new Tax Values appear on all listings in theMLS.  we encourage a look at our taxes on a tax/sf basis- because if you do, you will see City of Charlotte taxes are lower than about  2/3’s of the country. I f you are from the greater NYC area you will love our low taxes- roughly 1/4 to 1/5 on a cost per square foot basis.

Real Estate/Personal Property Interest date is 1/6/09. Taxes must be paid prior to this date to avoid interest.

We can of course check the actual taxes paid on any given home. But this should help get you started.

South Carolina uses a completely different formula, but is quite low, running .55 to .7% overall of city of Charlotte taxes.
