Now that everyone has kicked off the weekend with Independence Day activities, it’s time to continue the fun into the weekend! Despite the gloomy weather, there are still great activities around town to explore.

NasCAR HALL OF fAMENASCAR Race Viewing Party | July 6

Experience the next best thing to viewing the race at the track – The NASCAR Hall of Fame! The Coke Zero 400 will be shown on a huge 64-foot wide screen with surround sound. You will also have access to extras including in-car video feeds plus scanners to hear the driver and crew dialogue. The viewing party is $10 general admission and doors will open 1 hour prior to the start of the race.

USA Food Truck Celebration | July 5-6

Keep celebrating America’s independence by attending “Celebrate America” with the Queen City Q Food Truck. Voted best BBQ in Charlotte in 2012, the food truck will be bringing all the American favorites: Pulled pork sandwiches, Mac & Cheese, Pork Quesadillas, Pimento Cheese and Handmade Chips, Beef Brisket and more. Located at the Laurel Gray Vineyards, the famous food truck will be there from 10:30 a.m. –  4 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Jazz at the Bechtler | July 5-6

Enjoy the soothing tunes of Gastonia native, Maria Howell, and the Ziad Jazz Quartet Friday and Saturday at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. The event is free for all museum members (with reservation) and $12 for non-members. Tickets can be purchased here or by calling 704-353-9200.

The new Mint Museum in CharlotteF.O.O.D. Finale | July 7

Make your way to the Mint Museum Uptown for the final day of F.O.O.D. (Food, Objects, Objectives, Design). This exhibition honors objects used to prepare, cook and present food. Visitors can contribute their favorite summer recipe to the Community Cookbook and enjoy the special final tour at 3 p.m. The presentation will last from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. and is free after regular museum admission!
