Your Introduction to Charlotte - the Heart of the New South©

Living Here – Charlotte, The Heart of the New South

Charlotte and Sealed Air

So I’ve heard that Atlanta calls itself the capitol of the New South. Ok, I’ll give them that, but if they are the capitol, I would like to declare Charlotte NC the heart of the New South. We may be a small big city but Charlotte has big city amenities, without most big city problems! And things are pumping here!

What is the New South? A city that has in large part moved past race and industrialized!  We have a museum here that explains it better, the Levine Museum of the New South.   This page was first posted in 2008, and was updated to 2014.

Considering a move to Charlotte?  You are in good company. People, lots of people, have moved to Charlotte NC in the last 14 years. Since 2000,  more than 300,000 (a town about the size of Cincinnati) have come from all over the country, all over the world, for  a wide variety of reasons… READ MORE…

charlotte hornets opening game

The return of the much loved Hornet's was a success in every way. A sell out crowd met the team, amidst lots of crazyness. Check out the start of the introductions. Then they looked perfectly lousy for the next 90 minutes. Down 11 at the half, their offense sputtered on poor shooting, and their defense was defense-less.  It grew worse in the third quarter, where they fell further behind, all the way to 24 points down with about 7 minutes to...Continue Reading!

Carolina Panthers

An ugly win, maybe, but a Win! The Panthers came out of their two game funk with just 2 minutes to the half when Cam led the offense to its first touchdown to bring the team to 21-14 (Bears) at the half. It was an impressive drive, he threw with pinpoint accuracy and moved the team downfield, almost effortlessly. The defense came alive and became what we expected going back to games 1 and 2. Next up, Cincinnati. Related Posts Charlotte 9th in US in...Continue Reading!

BIG Questions from Charlotte Home Buyers and Sellers Home Buyer and Sellers ask these questions often- big questions, and in the old days they would take a ton of research to answer with authority. Sometimes they still will, but I do have some cool new data tools. "Is "X" subdivision going to appreciate more than "Y" ?"  "Is it better to live closer to town or further out?" Sellers ask, "What is my home worth?" and then point to one sale in their neighborhood,...Continue Reading!

Panthers Celbrate

What did we learn about the Panthers strong showing in Tampa? The Carolina Panthers beat an improving Tampa Bay team 20-14 and answered a major "What If" question along the way, "What if Cam Newton was injured and out for 4-6 Weeks? Would the season be lost?"  For many teams the answer would be, "Season Over!" but not here. It turns out that DA, Derek Anderson, who started and ran the  same offense prepared for Cam, has the respect of the...Continue Reading!

Carolina Panther Cam Newtown

Tomorrow night the Carolina Panthers face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers -- without Cam Newton who is out with a fractured rib -- in their final preseason matchup (7:30pm on FOX).  Beyond the outcome of tomorrow's preason game, serious questions remain about the Panthers' 2014 season.  The first question is Cam Newton. Will he be ready for regular season play on Sept 7th? Let's just say I'm not quite as optimistic as Coach Ron Riveria who assured reporters Cam would be ready...Continue Reading!
