the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art

For those of you who didn't know (most of us) Charlotte NC is the 20th largest metropolitan area in the US. Our Arts and Science council has been enormously successful funding the arts in Charlotte, even if they've run into a little post-recession headwind the last few years. We write frequently on Things to Do in Charlotte so we know there is Lots Of Things to Do here, but it is nice to get some outside recognition. A friend posted this to...Continue Reading!

Carolina Panther Cam Newtown

Tomorrow night the Carolina Panthers face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers -- without Cam Newton who is out with a fractured rib -- in their final preseason matchup (7:30pm on FOX).  Beyond the outcome of tomorrow's preason game, serious questions remain about the Panthers' 2014 season.  The first question is Cam Newton. Will he be ready for regular season play on Sept 7th? Let's just say I'm not quite as optimistic as Coach Ron Riveria who assured reporters Cam would be ready...Continue Reading!

Sedgefield - A HOT Charlotte Neighborhood We've been telling you about Sedgefield for sometime now, here and here- it's booming. This past week Sedgefield gained some national recognition on Redfin, listing Sedgefield as  a top ten neighborhood in the nation for appreciation.   Those of you who know me, know I put my money down here and moved in October of last year and began remodeling. We compared other Southend  local neighborhoods recently, and it stood out again.  I've observed it with my own eyes, but...Continue Reading!

carefree boat club

If you live in south Charlotte you'd be forgiven for seldom getting out on the waters of Lake Norman. For one thing, there aren't any public beaches available -- if you want to get out on the water you have to own n some property,  or  a boat. I've lived in Charlotte most of my life (since 4th grade minus college and a few years in Raleigh) and have only been out on Lake Norman a few times  -- until yesterday. Yesterday,...Continue Reading!

making a good house buy

How to Avoid the Biggest Mistake? The Internet has revolutionized the home buying process. There are literally 100's if not 1000's of sites to search for homes online, in your city, in Charlotte, or just about anywhere in the world. Why are Mortgage Applications SO Crazy?

mountains of paperwork

What if I told you that the average mortgage file in the U.S. has grown from around 100 pages to almost 500 pages in the last few years? What if I told you that approximately 30% of real estate transactions nationwide either don’t close or close late… primarily due to mortgage related problems?  Well both of the statements above are true, but in spite of that we have customers telling us almost everyday that, “this was the easiest mortgage process I...Continue Reading!
