Panthers Beat New Orleans and Other Charlotte News!

September 17th, 2012 Listed Under: Charlotte Homes for Sale, Charlotte Sports, Living Here

SATISFACTION!  Carolina Panthers 35- New Orleans Aints 28

The Panthers 2012-2013 home opener against the New Orlean Saints couldn’t have gone much better… they rediscovered their potent ground game, Cam Newton looked sharp, and the 35-28 Win was a much needed confidence booster. Heck, we even had a defense when we really needed one, and we didn’t have to pay a bounty either!

Mondays are definitely a little better after a Panther Win.  This win especially, I couldn’t help but notice that this was the team that intentionally wanted to hurt a 22 year old rookie, because he was good.  Such class.  End his career?  “Oh well that is the big leagues,” they would say.     I’d like to see EVERY player in who received a cash bounty  be suspended a game for each $100 they collected.  And the saved payroll? The Aint’s could donate that to local charity.  I used to really like this team.

DNC Update

The reports are in, and except for a few hotel complaints, apparently Charlotte passed the “Major Convention City Test” with flying colors.  From the Obama’s on down, the compliments to the city’s beauty and hospitality were nearly unanimous- of course there was John Oliver of the Daily Show complaining that “After several years living in New York, these people down here are just too damned nice. I Hate it.”  I think we’ll take that!

I have (at least) one new buyer in my system directly related to the DNC.  Said she came here for the convention, now she is coming to find work!  She wants to live here- this is a bit surprising because we had one of our worst weather weeks, but she just liked the city.

Charlotte Real Estate

August was a post-crash record month for us here at the McDonald Group! We could tell everyone was having a good month:  the attorney offices’s were all busy, standing room only on the 31st,  inspection times were longer… But August home sales and prices were even better than we thought!

A quick glance at the core Charlotte market from the Carolina MLS comparing August 2012, to August 2011  is breathtaking:

Charlotte home sales are Way up, 26% over August 2011. And Home prices?

The Average Sold cost per square foot is up 4.74% for the same August to August comparison… Very cool.

The average price of a home went up 4% as well to a still very affordable $253,500

Now that’s the way to end the summer.  Interest rates are at historic low’s and prices are rising again, time to get off the bench and get back into the game!

If you are considering relocating to the greater Charlotte area we are here for you… if you are thinking now may be the time to buy that first home, or make your first investment in real estate, we are available and ready to go to work. Learn more about the McDonald Group here. tm
