Your Introduction to Charlotte - the Heart of the New South©

Southpark Community Report

It is easy to make the case that Southpark is, and will be the heart of South Charlotte for years to come.  Yes , I know a Fortune 500 company is relocating from Southpark to Ballantyne. (SBC headquarters is being built there now).  But Whole Foods chose South Park for their first Charlotte Store after many attempts.  Why is that? Where is the premier shopping? Southpark is geographically the heart of South Charlotte too, at the intersection of two important crossroads Sharon Rd and Fairview. But there is more… much much more.

Southpark mall

What makes Southpark the heart of south Charlotte?

There are many reasons but these are a few of my favorite:

  • It is where business life meets a thriving and complex social scene.
  • It is the 4th largest business district in North Carolina.
  • There is still only one very high end shopping mall in Charlotte, and that is in Southpark, home to Nieman Marcus, Nordstrom, Macy’s, Burberry, Coach , Louis Vitton, Anthropologie, Apple, Crate and Barrel,  Frontgate, Urban Outfitters and many more.
  • Urban Spoon counts 74 restaurant reviews in the Southpark area, 60 for Ballantyne.Your favorites? Ruth’s Chris? Del Frisco’s? McCormick and Schmick?  All in Southpark.
  • The Charlotte Pops play on the lawn a summer series (next to the Hilton Double Tree)  at Southpark, culminating July 4 with fireworks.

South Charlotte has been one of the fastest growing and appreciating parts of Charlotte. I've been writing all week about Southpark... you may remember me calling it the heart of South Charlotte. Have a peak at the map below and you be the judge. Southpark is just 7 miles to Uptown, and 15 miles to nearby Lake Wylie... How's that for convenience. South Charlotte Homes| Foxcroft in Southpark Overtakes Eastover and Myers Park as Most Expensive Area in Charlotte

Charlotte Communities and Real Estate

Foxcroft, always one of the premier Southpark-South Charlotte area communities, combines a close-in location and large property lots...the result? Large homes, large yards, and the most expensive real estate in Charlotte. Foxcroft has overtaken Eastover, Myers Park and Morrocroft as the most expensive neighborhood in Charlotte. At the heart of the rising prices? Rising land values. The Foxcroft area runs between Sharon Rd, Sharon Lane, and Providence Rd, and on a bit down towards Fairview, and has been the target of...Continue Reading!
