Inside Dimensional Fund’s East Coast Hub
The pioneers- a company with vision, Dimensional Fund Advisors was the first to develop a major office building in the fast changing Southend side of Charlotte. DFA, the Austin based mutual fund company, opened for buziness this past May, but as the paint dries, there is still quite a bit of finishing touches being applied. More than 285000 sf on 9 floors right at the angled corner of S Tryon and Camden, this is Southends first commercial office building. Now they are the trendsetter!
They are joined in Southend by the Railyard, one block north. Lending Tree is moving their HQ from Ballantyne to an 11 story building a few blocks up on Carson, and Lowes, the home improvement giant, is joing in in with a 23 story “tech hub” adding 2000 Tech jobs to the local economy. All close to uptown, all in Southend. You are seeing the trend, and DF saw it 4 years ago. Vision.
Ever since I heard a city offical call Southend, “our Bethesda”, about 5 years ago, I caught the vision. Many didn’t hear it, but I grew up 5 minutes from Bethesda- it was a reference to Bethesda, MD, the booming ring city just outside of Washington DC- a (2nd) city with employers, hotels, shoppping and, did I mention, the Metro runs right through it. Southend!
One of my clients gave me a tour of DF earlier in the week. They are hiring this fall! More than 200 advisors!
Art abounds. The founder knows where creativity starts! The outside is best viewed by night! Why work out on Tyvola , or Uptown, when you could be here? Dimensional Fund is hiring, as many as 200 new advisers. Get that resume ready.
I could have gone for the art alone. Quite a place!
And then there is the cafeteria, and outdoor eating space overlooking Charlotte.
