The Fillmore, located inside the NC Music Factory near Uptown, is one of the best places in Charlotte to listen to live music.
Since it’s opening in June of 2009, The Fillmore has become one of the best music venues in Charlotte. Unlike most other Charlotte music venues it’s big enough for large, well-known acts but still small enough for an intimate show.
I’ve been to over a dozen shows at The Fillmore and have consistantly been impressed with the quality of the bands/talent, the sound mixing and the lighting. In short, so long as the band brings it that night it will definitely be a fun night. They set the stage well and then it’s just up to the bands and their fans! It’s also relatively affordable — obviously this varies by the act but the largest acts play the arena or PNC so you’re not going to have to shell out $50/ticket.
Perhaps the only downside to the venue is it’s beer choices. If you like paying $8 for a small cup of Bud-Light then I’d encourage you to drink there (ps – not hating, this is a common problem)! If that’s not your style, there are several bars within walking distance with VBGB located right next door (my personal favorite, in need of its own blog post).
If you’ve never been, I’d highly recommend giving The Fillmore a try. Take a look at their upcoming schedule and experience The Fillmore for yourself.
