Matthews has lots of on-going activities to enjoy!

During the summer months, the Matthews Farmers Market is well attended by residents as well as local chefs purchasing fresh farm-to-table ingredients for their restaurants.  The Red Brick Partnership has established a “First Thursdays”.  This event includes both a “First Thursday Crawl” where you can stroll through Matthews restaurants and shops form 5-9pm where sampling is encouraged, but also includes a “First Thursday Pop-Up Market” set up in the park in front of the Town

Hall/Library Building where you can find locally crafted artisanal items. http://www.redbrickpartnership.org/

If Thursday isn’t enough for you, come on out on Friday!  Every Friday during the warm months, the Town of Matthews hosts a “Food Truck Friday” event at Stumptown Park.  Come enjoy all different types of food available from an array of local foodtrucks, while sitting on the lawn in Stumptown Park enjoying free local music played at the bandstand.  Don’t be surprised if you hear some “Beach Music” that makes you get up and dance!

At the end of summer, Matthews always hosts two really large fair events.

Matthews Alive! which is a large local fair with carnival rides, live music and of course plenty of Fair food to nibble on.  There is also the Matthews ArtFest which encompasses all of Trade Street from Matthews Station, Town Hall/Library and park, down several blocks to Stumptown Park and around.  You will find vendor tents just chock full of fabulous handmade art, jewelry, pottery and more.  I always doing my Christmas shopping during the Matthews ArtFest.

Matthews is also home to Presbyterian Hospital.  Presbyterian includes all types of services from a Birthing Center, Labs, ER and Oncology departments to name a few.  There are many medical practices in the surrounding community from general family practice, pediatrics, specialists and more.

I live in the Matthews area in a great community called Bonterra Village! I'm blogging about the greater Matthews area and things to do nearby. I'll also be covering some of the new construction and active over 55 communities beginning to pop up around town. During the day I'm a full-time agent with The McDonald Group at eXp Realty where I help clients buy and sell throughout the Charlotte area. I'm working for that 5 star review!

So everybody’s heard that Atlanta calls itself the “capitol” of the New South. Ok, I’ll give them that. But if Atlanta is the “capitol”, then Charlotte is the heart of the New South. Charlotte is the 20th largest city
